West Point comes to DVD!

'West Point' DVD One of Steve McQueen's several rare and largely unseen early television performances is finally being brought to light thanks to Shout! Factory and Timeless Media with their DVD release of the television series West Point.

West Point, produced with the full cooperation of the United States Department of Defense and the United States Military Academy, was based on actual files documenting many of the real-life dramatic occurrences at West Point over the years.
Running for two seasons from 1956 to 1957, the show featured big name guest stars such as Chuck Connors, Clint Eastwood, and Barbara Eden. It also showcased a young writer named Gene Roddenberry who wrote 9 episodes of West Point before going on to create the classic original Star Trek television program.

But of particular interest to McQueen fans, it featured an early 1957
TV performance of a young Steve McQueen in the episode Ambush, which tells the story of a cadet who tries to save a young boy from becoming a juvenile delinquent. McQueen guest starred.

The DVD release features the full two seasons of the show.

Special thanks to Daniel Cyr for sharing this information.
