McQueen's 1952 Chevrolet Pickup 'Camper' added to the Mecum Celebrity Items Auction
To be auctioned on Friday July 26, 2013
In addition to 100's of other McQueen related items on offer at the inaugural Mecum Celebrity Items Auction event, bidders now have the opportunity to own a very special piece of the McQueen's Machines legacy.
Steve acquired this 1952 Forest Green Chevrolet 3800 series pickup on Feb. 2, 1978, when he resided in Trancas Beach, California, with Barbara Minty McQueen, and owned it until his death in 1980.
Mostly used for camping trips, it was also the vehicle that drove Steve from his Santa Paula home to the Ventura County Airport on Nov. 3, 1980, from where he was whisked to El Paso, Texas, for his final cancer surgery in Juarez, Mexico. Accompanying him in the camper that day was the Reverend Billy Graham.
